Boston After School & Beyond Boston and the City and two private family foundations, is proud to announce the release of $100,000 in Summer Youth Arts Initiative grants to the following programs:

• AFSC-NERO’s Critical Breakdown - $10,000
• Cape Verdean Community UNIDO's Teen Mural Program - $7,000
• Catholic Charities’ Teen Center at St. Peters - $7,500
• The City School’s We Rise Up: Political Arts in the Park - $8,000
• Dorchester Youth Collaborative's Teen Program - $15,000
• Hyde Square Task Force's Teen Program - $15,000
• Inquilinos Boricuas en Accion’s (IBA) Cacique Youth Arts Initiative - $7,500
• Madison Park Technical Vocational High School’s Summer Transition Program - $10,000
• Mattapan Community Development Corporation's Arts and Fitness Collaborative - $15,000
• MissionSAFE's A New Beginning - $5,000

The Summer Youth Arts Initiative was created as a collaborative to respond to the Mayor’s call for more private sector support to expand and enhance opportunities available for youth in the City of Boston through summer jobs and arts programming.

The Initiative is targeted at programs serving youth 13-19 year olds, with an emphasis on older, at-risk youth in the neighborhoods of Dorchester, Mattapan, Charlestown, Roxbury, and Jamaica Plain.

Boston After-School & Beyond's mission is to catalyze a partnership with the City of Boston, the philanthropic community and the city’s business, non-profit and civic leadership to design and implement a successful youth development strategy for all the children of Boston. Boston After School & Beyond is an advocate for the power of out-of-school time (OST) in youth development. We are rooted in the principles of learning what works, securing resources to test what works, and organizing and supporting the public and private stakeholders who can act on what works.
