Dorchester's Peace Activist: Support Isaura Mendas
Isaura Mendes- On October 24, 2007, our sister Isaura Mendes will be in court on a charge of resisting arrest and assaulting a police office. You may know that Isaura has been a warrior against crime and violence since losing two (2) sons to gun violence. She was arrested last month by police when she questioned why they had come to arrest her grandson. We believe Isaura needed a trauma team intervention given what she’s been through not a law enforcement response. It is important that we be there in the courtroom, wearing our T-shirts to support her. The Bobby Mendes Peace Leacy, Reach Out 2007, City Mission Society and Live for the Future Campaign will be organizing a March for Peace on Saturday, October 13 from Roxbury Crossing to the State House at 1:00 p.m.
