Description:

Rakugo: Japanese Storytelling, April 15 and 19   04/08/2008 04:02:54 PM

Please come experience RAKUGO, the art of Japanese storytelling. There will be two performances at Northeastern--Tuesday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. (310 Behrakis Center) and Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m. (20 West Village F). Also enjoy the Japanese musical instruments, SHAMISEN and KOTO.  Free and open to the public. English subtitles provided.

This is a rare opportunity to experience Rakugo, a traditional storytelling that has long been popular among Japanese. Sanyutei Kyoraku is an experienced Rakugo performer who masterfully delivers old and new Japanese stories that are comical, moving, and gripping. The repertoire will be different for each performance. A reception will follow on April 19.
