THE TOWN MEETING: Defining Dorchester’s History, 1633-1870.  Celebrating the 375^th anniversary of American town government, created on the corner of Pleasant, Pond, and East Cottage Streets in October 1633 by an agreement forming a system of self-government to order the town’s affairs. The Town Meeting, as this system would be called, not only provides a window on the history of the Town of Dorchester, but in a sense is the history of the Town. Using the archival records of the Town, City of Boston Assistant Archivist Patrick Collins will explore how the Town Meeting encompasses all of Dorchester’s history as an autonomous municipality.  Program, October 19, 2008, 2 pm Dorchester Historical Society195 Boston StreetDorchester, MA  02125 Suggested donaton $5.00
