Rare Job Opportunity at Ashmont Nursery School

Description:

A Rare Opportunity to join the team of teachers at
Ashmont Nursery School!
The families of Ashmont Nursery School, one of the only cooperative pre-schools in the City of Boston, anticipate an opening for Lead Teacher beginning with the 2007-2008 school year.
Ashmont Nursery School is a non-profit, non-sectarian, cooperative pre-school for children aged 2.9 to 5. It is located at One Ashmont Street in Dorchester - near Codman Square- and is accessible by public transportation (Ashmont Station). Facilities include a spacious indoor play area with a wide variety of materials and a fully equipped outdoor play yard. The school is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
A team of three, highly qualified teachers work with parents to foster exploration, play, and the lifelong love of learning. The parents, in partnership with the teaching team, form a community that encourages caring for all of the children and families, a sharing of ideas, skills, concerns, and values.
The person accepting this position will join the two remaining staff members (who have a combined total of 26 years with ANS!) along with a volunteer parent-teacher to supervise and care for 20 children each day, generally from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM Monday-Friday. The school follows the BPS Calendar.
The program is a well established and highly regarded member of the community and provides an environment where everyone is respected and recognized as individuals. We value exploration, creativity, diversity and working together with one another.

Qualifications: For this position, we are looking for an individual with at least an Associates Degree (Bachelors preferred) who is EEC Lead Teacher certified. Experience working in an Early Childhood Education setting is required. The candidate should have the desire and ability to work in a team of teachers with the shared goal of meeting the needs of the children and the school community.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package (commensurate with education and experience), excellent working environment, supportive administration, and opportunities for professional growth and long-term stability. This is truly a wonderful opportunity for an educator who desires a working environment where the teachers are respected and considered part of the family.
