Connecting Citizens to Information

Combines the use of information technology and old-fashioned face-to-face contact to provide citizens with information they need to participate in civic life. SCI Dorchester currently is working to connect citizens in three ways:

The Dorchester e-Blast provides weekly updates on community events, opportunities, and announcements.

The Guide Project will enable individuals and groups to become more involved in the community and will support the work of community organizations and agencies through out Dorchester, helping them to render service more effectively and creating the opportunity to connect people with different resources.

Promise Fellows

Relationships Matter airs the first and second Wednesdays of every month at 4:00 p.m. on Comcast Channel 9 and with repeat shows on the weekend. We are currently scheduling guest spots for the spring and summer. If you would like to be a guest on the show, please contact Marisa Coleman at 617-474-1422 or mcoleman@scidorchester.org. SCI Dorchester has teamed up with DotWell Healthy Times to produce two BNNLive shows per month on building social capital and increasing civic engagement in Dorchester. The show will feature the wonderful work of Dorchester organizations, civic groups and neighbors, highlight programs and services in the community, promote upcoming events.

Recent Shows: On Wednesday, August 3rd, Relationships Matter's special guests were: Julie Balasale, new Youth Program Coordinator for SCI Dorchester; Judy Ellman, Dental Health Outreach Coordinator for Codman Square Health Center; and Noel Roycroft, Arts Focused Mentoring Coordinator for Roxbury Youthworks' Female Focus Initiative. All three women are Americorps Promise Fellows serving the Dorchester community. Relationships Matter is aired on the first and second Wednesday of every month on BNNLive, Channel 9 at 4:00 p.m. Repeat show schedule, click here.
