The Boston Election Department would like to remind all residents that October 17, 2007 is the last day to register to vote in order to participate in the municipal election on November 6, 2007 . On November 6, Boston voters will elect four at-large City Councillors from a field of nine candidates. There are also district contests in City Council districts 3, 4, 7 and 9. Incumbent Councillors in Districts 1, 2, 5, 6 and 8 are unopposed for re-election. For a list of candidates, visit the www.cityofboston.gov/elections . Voters who have moved within the past year should update their voting information by re-registering from their new addresses. The Election Department Office, in Room 241 at Boston City Hall, will be open until 8:00 p.m. on October 17 to accommodate last-minute registrants. Mail-in registration forms can be picked up at many libraries, health centers and community centers or may be downloaded from the above website. Registration forms sent by mail must be postmarked by October 17 in order to be processed for the November 6 municipal election. Boston, Massachusetts 02201 FAX: (617) 635-4483 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASESeptember 27, 2007 Contact: Geraldine CuddyerOffice: 617-635-4634 OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER 2007 STATE AND CITY ELECTIONS The Board of Election Commissioners would like to remind Boston voters that there are three (3) upcoming elections: the Special State Election for the Middlesex, Suffolk and Essex Senatorial District (Ward 2 Pcts. 1-7; Ward 21 Pcts. 4, 6, 7; Ward 22 Pcts. 1, 2, 5) on October 9; the Special State Election for the First Suffolk Representative District (Ward 1 Pcts. 1-14) on October 23; and the citywide (all 254 precincts) Municipal Election on November 6. Polling locations in the City of Boston will be open from 7AM until 8PM on those election days. The last day to register to vote in the First Suffolk Special State Election is Wednesday, October 3, 2007, and the last day to register to vote in the citywide Municipal Election is Wednesday, October 17, 2007. The Boston Election Department (Boston City Hall, Room 241) will be open until 8PM on October 3^rd and October 17^th to accommodate last-minute registrants. Those entering City Hall after 5PM should use the Congress Street entrance, opposite Faneuil Hall. Voters wishing to make address changes or name changes should also make an effort to do so before the October 3^rd and October 17^th deadlines. Mail-in voter registration forms may be downloaded by visiting the Boston Election Department’s website: www.cityofboston.gov/elections. All mail-in registration forms must be postmarked by October 3^rd for the voter to be eligible to participate in the First Suffolk Special State Election, and by October 17^th for the voter to be eligible to participate in the citywide Municipal Election.
