FINALLY, we are ready to install the gardens at Shawmut Station between Mather Street and Melville Avenue.

We need your help!

Please come if you can

Saturday September 22th , from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to join in garden bed prep work. Bring a shovel! We'll be weeding and turning over the bed.

OR ?

Saturday October 6th , from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon to join in planting and mulching. Bring a wheel barrow!

DO YOU HAVE ANY OLD DORCHESTER COBBLE STONES IN YOUR YARD THAT YOU ARE NOT USING? WE NEED THEM!

We will be collecting cobble stones for use in the garden. The cobbles will be used to divide beds and create a spiral design. We have already identified about 75 cobbles stones we can use, but we are looking for 400 more! If you have any, please drop them off at the garden space between Mather Street and Melville Avenue. read more »

Weekly Neighborhood Playgroup

Description:

DOTtots Playgroup:
Parents and caregivers of children under 5 are invited and encouraged to attend this weekly neighborhood playgroup. It is a great opportunity to connect with other local parents and give your child(ren) an opportunity to socialize with other youngsters. Come for support, conversation, even snacks! We have toys and equipment for children from birth to preschool and everyone is welcome.

Time and Location:
The playgroup meets every Thursday from 9:30-11:30 A.M. in Dunn Hall at Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish on Columbia Road (at the intersection of Dorchester Ave. and Columbia Road, near the JFK T Station.) Enter the door from the back parking lot and go down to Dunn Hall. There is an elevator for wheelchair and stroller access. Playgroup will not be held when BPS are closed due to inclement weather or other city-wide emergency. We will meet on our regular day during school vacations and summer. Older siblings are welcome at these times.

The Group:
The playgroup is cooperatively run by the parents involved, with everyone taking joint responsibility for all tasks (providing snacks, maintaining the space, equipment, and supplies, planning special events, etc.) Attendance is free and open to everyone.

Note:
For the health and safety of everyone, please do not attend if you or your child/ren are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness beyond a mild cold. It is a friendly group and EVERYTHING is shared.

The Friends of Leo Lydon “Savin Hill Celebration of Friendship” on March 24th at BC High School is fast approaching!

The night is sure to be a blast with great food, music, lots of great auction items including but not limited to Red Sox tickets, Bruin’s tickets, Celtic’s tickets, a tour of the White House and lunch in the Congressional ballroom with Congressman Lynch, 3 night stay in Wellfleet, memberships to Savin Hill Yoga, bowling party, 2 night stay at any Marriott in the country, paint ball party, original lithograph by Savin Hill’s James Hobin, dinner for four at 224 Boston Street with Representative Walsh, tour of the State House and lunch with Senator Hart, A basket of gift certificates to local restaurants from City Council President Maureen Feeney, gift certificate to Dorchester Divers and lots more!

We will also have great raffle prizes and of course the “Taste of Dorchester”, a sampling from some of Dorchester’s finest restaurants! The night promises to be lots of fun for all!
